Creating an FTP User Account

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) allows you to upload and manage files on your web hosting using an FTP client like FileZilla, Cyberduck, or WinSCP. This guide shows you how to create an FTP account through the DirectAdmin control panel.

Step 1: Log into the Control Panel

First, log into your DuelHost account at customer.duelhost.dk. From the dashboard, click the green login button for your web hosting to access the DirectAdmin control panel.

Step 2: Navigate to FTP Management

In the DirectAdmin control panel, look for the Account Manager section in the menu. Click on FTP Management to access the FTP account settings.

Step 3: Create a New FTP Account

Click on Create FTP Account to set up a new user. You’ll need to configure the following:

Username: Choose a username for the FTP account
Password: Create a strong password (use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols)
Directory: Select which folder this FTP account should have access to

Step 4: Complete the Setup

Click Create to finalize your FTP account. The account is now active and ready to use.

Connecting with an FTP Client

Use these settings to connect to your new FTP account:

Setting	Value
Host/Server	ftp.yourdomain.com (replace with your domain)
Port	21 (standard FTP) or 22 (SFTP)
Username	The username you created
Password	The password you set
Encryption	Use FTPS (FTP over TLS) when available

Security Tips

Use strong passwords: Avoid simple passwords that can be guessed
Prefer SFTP/FTPS: Use encrypted connections when possible
Limit directory access: Only give FTP accounts access to the folders they need
Delete unused accounts: Remove FTP accounts that are no longer needed
