How to set up your email with IMAP and SMTP

When you want to add your email account to a mail program like Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or a similar program, you need to use IMAP and SMTP settings to ensure that you can send and receive emails correctly.

What are IMAP and SMTP?

  • IMAP is used to retrieve and synchronize emails from the server to your device. This means that your emails remain on the server and can be accessed from multiple devices.
  • SMTP is used to send emails from your device to the recipient’s mail server.

Use these settings to connect to IMAP:

  • Server: mail.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain)
  • Port: 993 with SSL
  • Username: Your full email address, e.g. contact@yourdomain.com (replace contact@yourdomain.com with your actual email address)
  • Password: The password you specified when creating your email account

Use these settings to connect to SMTP:

  • Server: mail.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain)
  • Port: 587 with STARTTLS or 465 with SSL
  • Username: Your full email address, e.g. contact@yourdomain.com (replace contact@yourdomain.com with your actual email address)
  • Password: The password you specified when creating your email account

Remember to enable encryption for both IMAP and SMTP

With these settings, your email is ready to use!
